SS ANNUNZIATA HOSPITAL OF TARANTO

Captain Dolphin comes to pediatrics in Taranto.

It is Captain Dolphin himself who brings his reassuring smile to the children in the pediatrics ward of Taranto Hospital, involving them in a “game” that also becomes a discovery of the wonderful Taranto area and its history and culture, thanks to the donation of the S.I.M.BA ODV association of Taranto.

CAPTAIN DOLPHIN DISCOVERING TARAS

And this time it will be Captain Dolphin himself who will bring his reassuring smile to the children, involving them in a “game” that also becomes a discovery of the wonderful Taranto area and its history and culture. A map will be given to children to identify historical artifacts in the seabed and become Captains for a Day.

It was, in fact, the association S.I.M.BA. ODV to once again want to bring Silvio Irilli’s project for the humanization of hospital wards through color and art inside the important Taranto hospital.

The association, for the occasion, also received support from various private citizens who felt involved in the project and wanted to help with personal contributions to support the initiative. Therefore, heartfelt thanks also go to the friends of little Gabriele Vignola aka Gabo, Vespucci’s Brothers and colleagues at Mariscuola Taranto, the newlyweds Francesco and Gabriella, the confirmands of 25 N. MRS of Mariscuola Taranto and finally to Shot Gun Mother Chapter.

"In our daily work in the hospital we are very often confronted with critical situations that affect not only the health conditions of children, but also the experience of their parents who find themselves, often suddenly and unexpectedly, facing worry, uncertainty and suffering. When a child enters the hospital, his or her dream stops and fears take over. Research has shown that the physical environment in which medical care takes place can influence patients ‘emotional well-being and even clinical outcomes. Cozy, bright and relaxing environments can help reduce patients’ anxiety and stress, accelerating the healing process in many cases. We often see children's reactions when they are given either a toy or a book or when we organize entertaining art activities such as painting, crafts, music and theater. At that moment their eyes shine with surprise and their smile is the biggest" thank you."I've seen parents, doctors, nurses get moved as they all experienced a great emotion together. With the project of HOSPITALS PAINTED we wish to make their dream continue and make available their world, which is made of colors, imagination and joy."
Dr. Vito Gregorio Colacicco
Director general of Asl Taranto
“I would like to express my gratitude for this initiative, which touches on two valuable values for our hospital: welcoming and humanizing care, in order to provide the best care for young patients and their families. The HOSPITALS DIPINTS initiative is truly a beautiful project because it helps our little patients to think of fantastic characters, to dream and socialize, and to instill in them serenity as they wait for their relationship with doctors and health workers and the treatments they face daily. Thanks to the generosity of artist Silvio Irilli, the S.I.M.B.A. Association and many individuals, we are helping to create a positive and cheerful environment where our little patients can feel more comfortable during their healing journey. Thank you all for being part of our mission to bring a smile to the faces of children.”
Dr Valerio Cecinati
Director of pediatrics and pediatric oncohematology at SS. Annunziata in Taranto, Italy
“The PAINTED HOSPITALS project is particularly dear to us at S.I.M.BA. It has already been several years since Silvio Irilli transformed the Pediatric Oncohematology Department” Nadia Toffa “into an emotional, cheerful and colorful place with his wonderful work. However, a part of the Pediatrics ward was missing and it was a great desire of ours to be able to decorate it and we managed to achieve it thanks to the solidarity contribution of our supporters. And it is thanks to them that the little patients will be able to be in an environment made to their measure, enjoy wonderful colors, be surrounded by fairy tale characters and face their healing journey in the best possible way thanks to a serene environment that will allow them to continue dreaming.”
Deborah Cinquepalmi
President of Ass. S.I.M.B.A. ODV.
“It is with particular excitement that I return, with one of my works, to the Pediatrics Department of Taranto's Santissima Annunziata Hospital. I return with an innovative art project. In addition to the decoration, welcome, and interaction that have always been part of my works, with this project we add the dimension of” play,“offering children an adventure that will lead them to earn the title of Captain through a moment of joy and culture. In fact, the children will be in the company of the mascot of HOSPITALS PAINTED, our Captain Dolphin. He and his team will take them through the history of Taranto, discovering Taras. Special thanks to Deborah Cinquepalmi, president of the S.I.M.BA ODV association, for the excellent collaboration that unites us each time in a common goal: to bring a little joy to the little but great warriors.”
