DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS MAJOR HOSPITAL OF CHIERI

"A TEAM FOR SMILES" LED BY PAINTED HOSPITALS AND CHIERI '76 VOLLEYBALL GIVES A DREAM IN COLOR TO CHIERI PEDIATRICS

Thanks to the success of the international quadrangular tournament organized by the Chieri Volley '76 women's volleyball team of the A1 series, with the initiative conceived by Silvio Irilli "A Team for Smiles", with the participation of nearly 1,000 people, the support as media partner of the Corriere di Chieri and technical partner Intergraphica, the valuable contribution of Nursind, the Turin nurses' union, and Santa Bike, in a short time Chieri pediatrics has become in color!

Chieri, Dec. 13, 2023: Inaugurated the humanization intervention of the Pediatrics Department of the Maggiore Hospital in Chieri.
Let's talk about "A Team for the Smile," a project conceived by OSPEDALI DIPINTI together with Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76, an award-winning women's volleyball team that plays in the Serie A1 championship and that in the last year has also scored the 2022-23 Challenge Cup and the 2022 WEVZA Cup. Another absolute excellence of national relevance rooted in the Chieri area is OSPEDALI DIPINTI, an artistic project founded in 2012 available to nonprofit organizations, foundations and individuals who want to donate a decoration intervention to hospital wards - pediatrics in primis - transformed into real installations with which the patient interacts emotionally. The project, which has already involved more than 25 Italian hospitals, goes beyond the aesthetic dimension by creating, thanks to art, the conditions for a different enjoyment of the hospital environment, transformed into a welcoming and serene world in which even the action of doctors comes to be facilitated by the greater tranquility of young patients.

"We are honored and thrilled that the Chieri76 volleyball team has chosen to donate this important renovation of the department to Chieri Pediatrics. Thanks to the work of Painted Hospital and Silvio Irilli, pediatrics will be, even more, a welcoming place for our little ones and their parents."
Dr. Angelo Michele Pescarmona
Director General of ASL TO5
"Our team has always been close to social work. The tournament was a great success. Nearly 1000 people participated in 2 days and the result was beyond all expectations. Thanks to everyone for believing together with us in this initiative. We are really very proud to have contributed to this project conceived by Silvio Irilli. We hope in this way to give our small but concrete help to the hospital, and to make the stay of our children in Pediatrics lighter."
Philip Vergnano
President Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76

GAME ROOM

"As soon as I saw the first room that was made, a phrase that I had read on the website of Painted Hospitals came to mind: 'Let's turn a ward into an emotional environment,' especially because the patient for us is not only a patient, but also a person, especially for us pediatricians who face illness, face the pain of a child. So I would still like to thank so much those who made this "emotion" possible: the Chieri 76 especially in the figure of lawyer Filippo Vergnano, and HOSPITALS DIPINTS in the figure of Silvio Irilli and his staff. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this emotion."

"One word defines this project: sharing. Three of us started out sharing Silvio Irilli's idea and we arrived at the apotheosis of the PalaFenera, packed with Chierese people. They say that sharing is not in the DNA of this area. Perhaps that is true. But this time, with an important goal and the action of Chierese's best forces, we grafted a gene. Now it feels like replicating it over and over again."

THE TRAILER THAT PRESENTED THE EVENT

"It doesn't feel like you're in a hospital, but inside a cartoon!": this is the sentence a child who was getting an IV said to me, which slipped out with a smile even from the dad who was by his side. But this is just the happy ending of a beautiful story that began in July when I proposed to the president of the Chieri '76 volleyball team Filippo Vergnano the idea of involving them in the project of HOSPITALS PAINTED for the Pediatrics of the Maggiore Hospital in Chieri. Not only was the idea accepted, but Filippo Vergnano wanted to dedicate the proceeds of an international quadrangular tournament to the initiative, thus involving Chieri citizens in raising funds for the project. The participation was extraordinary, beyond all expectations with nearly 1,000 people at Palafenera, whom I thank one by one."
