SILVIO IRILLI PRESENTS PAINTED HOSPITALS AT NEW YORK ONU

Turin June 9, 2025: Artist Silvio Irilli with the project " Painted Hospitals" has been chosen to present his work at the 18th World Conference on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York June 10-12. The artist has been invited by Minister Alessandra Locatelli along with 17 other Italian organizations working in the field of disability to take part in the event with the theme 'The person at the center, recreational time and life time. "Telling the ‘Painted Hospitals’ project at an international event, in such a prestigious and culturally impactful venue, is a privilege and a source of great pride for me. For 13 years with the works I have been creating for hospital wards, I have been trying to put the patient at the center of care because he or she is above all a person. When I received the invitation from Minister Locatelli, it was a great emotion," is the comment of Silvio Irilli Painted Hospitals is Italy's major humanization art project for hospitals, founded in 2012 by Silvio Irilli, which through art transforms wards into environments of hope and emotion. The initiative has no cost to Public Health but is supported by associations, ODV/ETS, foundations, companies and individuals to donate a timeless work and stand by patients, their families and doctors and nurses. Each little patient painted a canvas, unaware that the whole would reveal a wonderful surprise: the portrait of Pope Francis. A gesture of hope, beauty and unity that lights the way. SILVIO IRILLI GUEST OF “THE NATIONAL NIGHT OF THE CLASSICAL HIGH SCHOOL”

Turin, April 4, 2025 -On the evening of Friday, April 4, artist Silvio Irilli, founder of the 'Painted Hospitals' project, was the guest speaker at the Liceo Classico 'Vittorio Alfieri' high school in Turin for a special meeting as part of the 'National Night of the Liceo Classico. In his talk, Irilli, dubbed "the artist of hospitals," recounted his extraordinary life and professional journey, which led him to become a nationally and internationally renowned figure thanks to his humanization work within Italian hospitals. His 'Painted Hospitals' project has transformed hospital spaces into more welcoming and humane places, bringing a new aesthetic and emotional dimension to healthcare facilities. "It was a special and exciting evening to tell the students of the Liceo Classico Vittorio Alfieri in Turin about my artistic journey," says the artist, "It was like taking a journey through time with images and videos that moved the audience, where in addition to the artistic aspect I wanted to highlight the human aspect in a journey made up of many sacrifices with difficult moments where each time I found the strength and courage to start again until the conception of the project Painted Hospitals. Special thanks to Professor Paola Montanari and Professor Anna Cavanno and school head teacher Professor Paola De Faveri for the invitation and beautiful hospitality." During the evening, the artist shared his experience with the audience, using the powerful tool of storytelling. His words, enriched with evocative and inspiring content, left the young people present with an important reflection on the values that have guided him over the years and that underlie the foundation of 'Painted Hospitals. The videos and images of his works, which accompanied his story, aroused strong emotions, with moments of emotion and amazement involving the entire audience.

THE HISTORIC CARNIVAL OF SANTHIA', THE OLDEST IN PIEDMONT AND ITALY, AWARDS THE MARIO PISTONO 'ONLY ART REMAINS' PRIZE TO SILVIO IRILLI

Santhià, March 3, 2025 - The Santhià Historic Carnival this year awarded the Mario Pistono “Only Art Remains” Prize to Silvio Irilli. “It is a bronze embossing with the effigy of our historic Gianduja statue,” points out current Pro Loco President Fabrizio Pistono, son of Mario*, himself a historic president and to whom the award is named, “and was made by master Gianni Franceschina. This award over the years has been given to important people in the art world, including Ugo Nespolo, Carlo Rambaldi's daughter Daniela, Gastone Cecconello, another renowned painter, and Francesco Tamiati, first trumpet of La Scala, to name but a few,” Pistono concludes. This year the choice fell on Silvio Irilli whose project “Painted Hospitals” played a key role for the judges, who have always been attentive to the emotional impact of artwork. “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Pro Loco of Santhià and Fabrizio Pistono for the MARIO PISTONO” ONLY ART REMAINS “Award, which is a profound recognition for my commitment to art as an emotional and humanizing support in hospitals and inspires me to continue to explore, listen, create and share my vision, with the hope of moving those who observe my work.” Starting out as a cartoonist in the 1990s, Silvio Irilli's works appeared in various newspapers, from TuttoSport, to Sorrisi&Canzoni, and television programs such as Solletico. Irilli then began to paint, choosing subjects such as the famous cyclist Pantani, immortalized in a large painting, and the footballer Maradona, and then devoted himself to large spaces such as the ceiling in the entrance of the world's largest aquarium, the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, United States. In 2012, the breakthrough year: the hospital the Policlinico Gemelli in Rome called him to decorate a corridor of the radiotherapy oncology department, and it was the feedback obtained from the young patients that inspired the creation of the “Painted Hospitals” project, which now has thirty hospitals.

It was an immense pleasure to tell 4th graders about the Painted Hospitals project in order to involve them in the Cure a Colori project that I will be doing for the #prontosoccorso at the Ospedale Maggiore di Chieri and to invite them, along with Massimo Marenco , to the big Santa Bike event on December 15
After holding a color workshop, where I revealed some tricks to them, they will start drawing their own version of Santa Bike with rhyming phrases of encouragement to patients that will be displayed at Il Gialdo Shopping Center from Dec. 21.
Thanks to teacher Vania Dionisi and her colleagues for the invitation.

THE NEW LOGO OF PAINTED HOSPITALS

After 12 years, our logo gets a makeover!
With a more pediatric design, the logo is redesigned by artist Silvio Irilli by selecting 2 colors, the green of nature and the ‘blue of the sky and the sea that embrace to form the outline of a paintbrush, all enclosed in a circle to symbolize a circular message, with the emotions that are to travel around the World.
Even the font of Painted Hospitals features the 2 colors that complement the logo which becomes easy to read, modern, elegant and minimal!

“I met the work first and then the artist.” Thus begins Paola Saluzzi’s interview with Silvio Irilli on the program “The Sunshine Hour.” Painter, artist and creator of the “Painted Hospitals” project, hehas been giving hope and dreams through art for 10 years, helping with imagination and colors to escape from the cold walls of hospitals. How the project was born, anecdotes, curiosities “a distraction within beauty” and then “if beauty cures you are a doctor with an honorary degree in medicine with brush and colors” the beautiful words of Paola Saluzzi, who concludes the interview by reading the beautiful dedication of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella sent to the artist.

Painted Hospitals book presented in Chieri.

Chieri 10.12.2022. Presented the book of “Painted Hospitals” in the conference room of the Civic Library of #Chieri (To) where the artist Silvio Irilli recounted his 30-year career with the 10 years of the Painted Hospitals project. It was a tale with images, videos that moved the audience. Present were Chieri City Councillor for Culture Antonella Giordano, Emmaland Association and Lillo di Franco who presented the event.
Until Dec. 15, part of the proceeds will support the “Emma’s Garden” project for the Emmaland Association, which we will carry out for the pediatric oncohematology ward of Novara Hospital.
