Renovated pediatrics ward opened at G. Martino University Hospital in Messina thanks to ABC’s “Il Mare In Corsia” project
Messina April 11, 2025: A colorful dive into the marine world. This is the scenario that from now on will welcome children hospitalized in the pediatrics ward of the AOU G. Martino Hospital in Messina. Inaugurated today the renovated structure thanks to the “Il Mare In Corsia” project, carried out by the ABC Association, Amici dei Bimbi in Corsia di Messina. A work created by the artist Silvio Irilli with Painted Hospitals, and made concrete thanks to the crowdfunding campaign that ABC carried out in the last months of 2024 with the support of local entities and organizations that, with their contribution, made its realization possible.
“We are pleased that our children can now count on a department that has the characteristics to be close to their needs. Often a welcoming environment can be more therapeutic than any medicine. I thank the area and all the companies/bodies and association that contributed so that this could be realized.”

Dr. GIORGIO GIULIO SANTONOCITO
Dir. general of the Polyclinic of Messina
“We gratefully thank those who were willing to contribute to the achievement of this important goal. Our commitment has always been to support young patients and their families, improving the quality of their hospital experience. We are very proud to have carried out this project and to be able to collaborate once again with such an extraordinary entity as Painted Hospitals”

Nino Abbate
President ABC Friends of Children in the Wards
"Just one word: THANK YOU! It was an exciting and thrilling campaign to see the great participation of the city of Messina. ‘Il Mare in Corsia’ is one of the most significant projects I have done for a pediatrics in Italy. Many thanks to the ABC association for the wonderful collaboration and I am sure it will be of great help to the doctors, nurses and all the volunteers."
